Using app integrations to expand your precision options

More connectivity. More efficiency.

What does it mean to get the most out of your field data?

Gathering and collecting it efficiently is important, but having the right tools to analyze and benefit from it is key. After all, what is data to you if it's just lying around?

There are quite a few software applications on the market that help manage the information you gather, but what if your options for analyzing and making use of it were multiplied?

Welcome to integrations — one of the best ways to streamline your farming operations.

API integrations are created by companies to enable data flow and information from their applications to those of other companies by coupling in-field devices with workflows that enable compatibility and connectivity between programs and devices.

These integrations can be built to include a range of data sharing including:

  • Farm and vehicle setup

  • Task records and recommendations

  • Materials

  • Prescriptions, field boundaries and guidance lines

  • Real-time fleet data

  • Harvest and crop zone activities

These integrations work by enabling communication to third-party applications that push and pull information back and forth between each other. For example, task data that is collected via a display and stored within a software management tool can be sent to a third-party application to be used to create prescription maps, analyze field data or perform a whole host of other tasks depending on the application it interfaces with. The information gathered within that application can then be sent back to your software management tool, eliminating the need for manual data transfer.

With PTx Trimble Ag Software, APIs are included and can allow you the flexibility to extend value through connected workflows with agronomists, custom applicators, seed consultants and more. This eliminates the need to store data on a USB drive and upload it from place to place, making your job just a little bit easier.

One example of an integration that can save you time and frustration is the new FarmTRX integration that allows you to gather yield data and store it within PTx Trimble Ag Software. With the ability to store OEM and integrated third-party software data, there’s no need to use multiple data platforms. Storing your data in one location reduces the effort to collate your data at the end of the season when analyzing your season ROI. With this API, you can run the FarmTRX app on your GFX display from the cab during harvest; this means utilizing the technology you already have with added functionality.

The transfer happens via a two-way integration in which FarmTRX yield data synchronizes with PTx Trimble Ag Software to allow a variety of information to be viewed and exported.

This data includes:

  • Yield

  • Grain moisture

  • Combine speed

  • Elevation

  • Area harvested per hour

The information that is stored within the PTx Trimble Ag Software platform is accessible on your computer or mobile device and can be streamed to your display in the field, giving you the information you need whenever and wherever you need it.

API integrations represent a whole new evolution of connected possibilities to help streamline your operation — and they make it easy!
