A passion for being in the field and building partnerships: Meet PTx Trimble’s new general manager

Andrew Sunderman has successfully married two key passions into one epic career moment. The new general manager of the company that has emerged from one of the largest ag tech deals on record has a strong and lifelong commitment to agriculture, as well as a flair for bringing together major partners to drive the ag industry forward.

“I’m passionate about farmers and the work we do together to feed the world,” says Sunderman, who spent the last 10 years in executive roles with Georgia-based AGCO, which closed a joint venture with Trimble Inc. on April 1 to form PTx Trimble.

After playing a leading role in the recent development of AGCO’s smart machine strategy, Sunderman assumed a leadership role in overseeing AGCO’s M&A strategy, first with the 2022 JCA Technologies acquisition and then with the creation of PTx Trimble.

Prior to leading mergers and acquisitions, Sunderman held roles in product management, marketing, business development and portfolio management with AGCO. While living in Marktoberdorf, Germany for two years as the product manager for Fendt tractors, Sunderman led a team working to redesign Fendt products for new markets in the U.S., Canada, Brazil, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand. He also led the Fendt tractor marketing team, expanding the brand’s reach in North America, onboarding new dealers and launching key products such as the Fendt 1000, Fendt 900, Fendt 700 and Fendt Track tractors.

Sunderman says his focus in leading business strategy and execution for PTx Trimble will be on creating “an inclusive workplace that empowers members to create unique value for farmers and OEM customers”.

To this end, his key objectives are:

  • Enhancing value to farmers, OEM partners, dealers, employees and shareholders

  • Delivering an outstanding experience for farmers and OEM customers with superior products, services and support that drive farmers’ net farm income

  • Providing a go-to market approach with best in class precision ag capabilities and customer support that creates a profitable business for our dealer partners

“An important part of fostering growth across all aspects of PTx Trimble will be to create a strong culture with engaged employees connected to our customers, our vision and our purpose for feeding the world,” says Sunderman. “Succeeding in this goal creates a strong foundation for driving profitable growth across the entire organization.”

Sunderman is relocating to Colorado.
